Who We Are

We help, we give hope, we bring families home!

Family Promise of Yucaipa-Calimesa aims to end family homelessness. We are an interfaith organization that partners with and mobilizes volunteers from the faith-based community to end homelessness for Yucaipa-Calimesa’s families and their children. Together, we have seen success that lasts. Families in our program receive a full complement of resources, support and training as they work towards their own stability and self-reliance.

Family Promise of Yucaipa-Calimesa was formed in 2018 as a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization independently associated with a national organization comprised of over 200 affiliates nationwide. Its purpose is to give a hand up to families struggling with homelessness. In 2017, a small group of concerned citizens in our community came together to talk about the problems of hunger and homelessness. Out of those discussions, they learned about Family Promise and began to explore the possibility of creating an affiliate in Yucaipa-Calimesa. It was learned that there were over 400 students in the local school district, at that time, who were experiencing some level of homelessness. As a result, Family Promise of Yucaipa-Calimesa was born. In cooperation with the Yucaipa-Calimesa Joint Unified School District, we assist students and their families who need a hand up. Our mission is to help families who are experiencing homelessness achieve housing stability through short-term emergency and transitional housing, financial literacy, individualized case management and employment counseling. We provide a full complement of resources, support and training as the families work toward stability and self- reliance.

President - Christine Hallenbeck

Chris Hallenbeck has lived in Yucaipa since 1991.  Her three children were raised here and received the benefits of attending our local schools as well as participating in community and church activities and opportunities.  As a retired educator Chris has taught, coached and worked as an administrator over the span of thirty one years.  In addition she has been a part of short term mission teams working in Antigua, Guatemala with the local schools.  She was also a partner in organizing the Soup Kitchen which was in operation for five years at Grace Point Fellowship.  A desire to continue to invest in the community led to involvement in Family Promise.  She believes that Family Promise provides a concrete, hand up program to assist families who are in need here in our area and is honored to be serving on the Executive Board.
